Duxbury Beach Needs Big Help
Duxbury Beach has always been one of the greatest attractions of our town where:
- families and friends from near and far gather for picnics, cookouts, and campfires.
- children are able to explore and enjoy nature’s playground with parents and grandparents.
- everyone can swim, walk, throw a Frisbee, or read a book through a long summer afternoon.
Duxbury Beach is one of the primary reasons many of us moved to this beautiful town and is no small factor in the value of our properties today.
Now, Duxbury Beach, the slender arm of sand we love so much, needs us… Needs ALL of us to make a commitment.
One serious threat to Duxbury Beach is rising sea level. Add storm frequency, volatility, and monthly flood tides, and the risk of this fragile barrier breaching escalates significantly, resulting in severe flooding to homes and businesses along Duxbury’s coastline.
Based on detailed research and discussions with many experts, Duxbury Beach Reservation, Inc. (DBR), the non-profit organization that owns Duxbury Beach, has determined that raising the dune structure is the best way to strengthen our beach and prevent coastal flooding.
We ask you to join us in our campaign to protect our coastline and preserve our beautiful barrier beach. Please say “yes” when you receive a request for your help. Donations are 100% tax-deductible. For additional information, call Cris Luttazi (781-563-0054) or (Margaret Kearney (781-934-2907).
Please email us if you are interested in participating in our education, fundraising, and event management. Also, we always looking for volunteers to help with grass planting, beach sweep, and snow fencing. We are always happy to have more beach lovers educating, protecting, and preserving.
